How wide spread are 3.4.3 plugin issues? #1

I've typically tried to stay up-to-date on my Apple software, but I held off after reading of plugin problems with Aperture 3.4.2 and 3.4.3 — particularly related to Nik plugins. I'd like to take the jump to 3.4.3 (as well as Mountain Lion) but I've not heard of a definite fix to this problem.

My question is, how wide spread is the plugin problem with 3.4.3? Is it affecting 10% or 90% of Aperture users? I'd like to know what my odds are.

Thanks.

Bill

Most of the issues appear to be with HDR Efex Pro 2, although some have reported issues with the full version of Color Efex Pro.

Nik…oops…sorry…Google is being…Google and not taking any responsibility. Apple hasn’t addressed it directly that I know of.

The issues are more of somewhere between an annoyance and a pain in the butt.

My personal opinion is that the next version of Aperture is due soon since neither Nik…I mean Google, nor Apple are saying anything (makes me think I should send another request to Nik asking them to advise the status).

The temporary fix I found for HDR Efex Pro 2 is to switch to Viewer mode to eliminate the corrupted image upon import from HDR Efex.

Thanks, Charles. I, too, have been holding my breath for the next major version of Aperture — turning very blue and about to pass out, but still waiting.

Can you explain a little more about your temporary fix? Not sure I understand. Are you launching to the plugin from within “Viewer” mode? Is that what you mean? Or, do you mean launch from “Browser” mode BUT switch to “Viewer” mode before doing the “Save” in Nik?

Thanks again.

Sure - select the 3 (or 5, 7, 9) images that you want to process in HDR Efex. Then….hit the “V” key to close the browser (row of images at the bottom of Aperture) so that only the three images are displayed. Then….edit in HDR Efex. When the finished image comes back into Aperture, it won’t be corrupted. To get the browser back, hit the “V” key again.

Understood, thanks. If that turns out to be the only issue, I will most likely jump to 3.4.3.

Has there been any change in the compatibility between NIK plugins and retina MacBooks

Thanks
