Also notice that exporting causes a hang we well. Ugh. Frustrating.
Unfortunately, there seem to be issues with Nik plug-ins since 3.4.*. Nik says it’s an Aperture problem (not properly releasing memory or GPU conflicts) and leaves it at that. Myself, along with others, have reported the issue to Apple.
Oddly, there are no issues with Nik and Lightroom or Photoshop - the plug-ins work without issues. This leads me to personally believe the problem IS with Aperture and Apple needs to get off its butt to address the issue.
With the Mavericks and Aperture 3.5 upgrades I’m happy to say that the hanging issues I had reported with Color Efex and HDR efex are resolved.

I’m still unable to use HDR Efex with Mavericks and 3.5. It crashes Aperture completely. I’ve never been able to use HDR Efex, which makes me sad.
