I have been having trouble with Aperture 3 and after many library repairs, opted to rebuild library. It's been stuck on 'restoring vaults' now for a long time - more than 24 hours. How long should I leave it? (When I check in on 'force quit applications' Aperture doesn't show up as not responding.)
One other thought–when I have really really long processing by aperture troubleshooting routines–I make sure in preferences–under energy preference–that hard disks are not permitted to go to sleep.
Maureen: in my experience If aperture does not show up in the “force quit” list–that means it is working. I would say this–in a related vein–when it comes to repair and rebuild libraries I had been having a lot of difficulty. I finally disabled FACES and both repair troubleshooting and normal vault operations do seem to be NORMAL again.
One day I will hunt for what must be some corrupt image and then re-enable faces again for now I can live without it.
