Panasonic jpeg photo looks different in Aperture #1

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I searched for an answer to this question and couldn't find one. My problem is the photos I have taken on a Panasonic DMC-TZ5 in jpeg format don't look the same after loaded into Aperture. They are not as bright and the color is distorted. Is there something I can do to correct this? I don't want to fix every picture if I like the way it came out on the camera.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Leslie

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I’m comparing the photo from my camera screen to the one that gets imported to Aperture. It’s very different. I don’t have any adjustment presets set in Aperture, except what the default is. I am new to using Aperture and I was getting training from Apple on using it and asked my instructor about this. He had no good answer which is why I have been searching elsewhere. I can’t believe my camera screen will show a better photo than Aperture. Should I be doing something different with the adjustment presets? Where would I do that?

I appreciate the help.

Hi,
A few additional questions to try to help u:
> Do you have the same effect when you import directly from the camera, not loading them to aperture but just checking them with basic tools?
if yes, the issue can be related to screen calibration. One of you screen (camera or laptop) is not well configured.

J

Since you are shooting Jpg I dont have to mention the latest Raw conversion by AP and the cameras that are covered, http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html but for others I will.

When importing you can add your own Effect Preset, in the Import dialog box, to apply to all imported images. You’d want to make one in advance that gets an average image closer to what you think it should be. Remember the back of the screens on cameras are not accurate to the file the camera outputs. Leslie,

What are you comparing the Aperture version to? The back of the camera?

Do you have any adjustment presets set in the Aperture import window that get automatically applied during import? (Check the adjustments pane to see if any adjustments are applied)
