Hi, newbie to the forum and recent mac user here!
I was wondering if anyone has successfully set up tethered shooting to their macbook with Aperture allowing the automated timed capture of images?
Basically, I am looking to capture time lapsed images of the night sky without having to purchase an internal timer or release the shutter manually. I am hoping to use my macbook (which will be sitting with me in the comfort of my non-dew car!) … so I can check/adjust my camera settings (albeit manually) as required.
I have set up tethered shooting in Aperture but cannot see how to set up automated capture.
Any ideas/solutions would be most welcome.

You can actually accomplish this using the Image Capture app (it’s in the Applications folder installed with the OS by default) … when your camera is attached and recognized by IC, go to File>Take Picture … this will open another window … on the top left you can select either Manual or Automatic (set to trip the shutter on a specific number of seconds) … on the top right you can choose to download the images captured to your computer … then if you want, you could use the Hot Folder script to have Aperture import the images as they are written to the folder …
Secondly, if your camera has an Intervolmeter function (some do, some don’t) you could let the camera trigger itself from a menu setting in the camera itself and import directly to Aperture via normal tether setup …
