Hi, since installing Mountain Lion I've been having a problem with Snapseed, When I process an image using Snapseed and then try and drag it into my blog, nothing happens, it has worked once with one photo but not since, if i save the image to my desktop and then drag it to my blog its ok, if i search for the image and try to install it that way, its not there, although it is, I can see it and open it in Aperture, ive sent an email to Nik software but waiting a reply.
Mac OSX 10.8
Aperture 3.3.2
Snapseed 1.1.0

Ask question and i'll know what info anyone may need.

Many thanks

Mark,

It sounds like your previews aren’t generating for the round-tripped images. Is it possible that you’ve disabled automatic preview generation for that project?

When you say drag it in to your blog, where is your blog being written? Is it in a web browser, i.e. Wordpress web interface style or an app which then uploads to your website

I was wondering if it might have been something to do with Share previews with iLife and iWork option? I do not think it is now that it is wordpress using a browser.

When you are in Snapseed and make your edits, then click Save does the prview update straight away? What happens if you drag the photo to your desktop? Does it show you the correct edited photo?

Yeah it appears in Aperture straight away, i can view it and do further adjustments, if i drag it to my desktop its fine, I can then drag it into wordpress.

Apologies if this is a daft question, are you going Media > New and then trying to drag & dropping from aperture to the the uploader section?

I am not near my mac at the moment, will be tonight. So I can try and emulate it at my end as well If I know your work flow.

Mark,

The fact that you can drag it to your desktop tells me that Aperture is doing it’s job properly (creating a JPEG preview). The fact that you can drag from your desktop to the browser, but NOT from Aperture to the browser, is quite interesting. I wonder if something changed in Safari (or, what browser are you using?) or if this is a Mountain Lion issue.

Can you please tell us what browser you are using, and also try this using different browsers. Let’s see where that takes us.

Not specifically related to Snapseed, but the drag-and-drop question…when sharing photos to Google+ I’ve never been able to drag from Aperture to Safari. True for both Lion and Mountain Lion. Does work with Firefox.

Apologies for the delay, I had some extra work to do when I got home.

I have just taken a random photo and edited with snapseed and then drag and dropped it from aperture to the Media > Add New in wordpress.

I forgot that the photos was a tiff… but after the 29mb upload, I can confirm that it does actually upload the correct image from doing so to wordpress via safari.

So we now know that it works with wordpress Media > Add New and using the flash box there. Also Aperture will drop the right photo, as Joseph pointed out, the fact it drops the correct one to your desktop does show it is exporting the correct edited image.

Thanks all, I’m using Safari, this worked fine before the up grade to ML, I’m off to Amsterdam early tomorrow for maybe 10 days so will only have my iPad I will look for any more posts and will answer if I can but will not be in using Aperture, so will try anything you suggest when I get home.

Many thanks for all your help.

Well after 7 emails to and from Nik software they have said its aperture at fault, I love it when people are so helpful.

Automatic preview generation - in the Library inspector at the to there’s a spotlight for projects and to the right of it a gearwheel. Hit the gearwheel and check ‘Maintain previews for project is ticked.

Another update, it’s not just snapseed. I took photo’s with my iPhone and 3 out of 4 appeared in Aperture via photo stream, the one that didn’t i emailed myself, then did my blog as normal and the one that would not copy to wordpress was the one i had emailed, i then dragged it onto my desktop and then dragged it into my blog and all was good, still very annoying though.

Mark,

Have you tried another browser? Other than the one image that didn’t copy from your iPhone over Photo Stream it sounds like Aperture is working just fine.

However for the one image that wouldn’t go from Aperture into the browser, are you sure it had a preview generated? Remember the test to see if a preview has been generated is to drag to the desktop.
