Aperture Book ?? Re: Photo Orientation #1

I'm preparing to upload a 50 page wedding book for printing but before I do I have a couple questions. When you want to angle a photo that you have placed in a photo box , in order to angle it to the right you must go to about 160 to 170 degrees depending on your design preference. This puts the photo upside down, which can be rectified by rotating the image to an upside down position before dragging it into the box. Question # 1 is, when Apple print the book, will the print be printed as seen in the design and not printed upside down? Also I had one file that was blurry after being placed in a photo box. I checked it and it is tac sharp before being placed in the box but as soon as it arrives there it takes on a blurry appearance. Should this file print sharp regardless of it's blurry appearance in the book design module ? First time I have had that issue and it was the only file out of about 200 that went into the book. Thanks!

I'd much rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

It should be printed as it looks.

I always print out my books to a PDF file first to see how they look in that PDF before I hit the buy now button.

From what I understand when you hit buy it does just that, prints to PDF, then uploads the PDF file to apples’ server.

Someone else here might be able to confirm this, but this is how I have always believed how it handles the uploading of your print orders.

Craig,

Chris is right, just make a PDF and look at that. But I’m very curious what you mean by angling it to the right and 160 degrees… I don’t follow what you’re doing. Could you post a screenshot?

Joseph, I’m not sure how to attach or link to a screen shot on this Forum, as I’m kinda slow when it comes to stuff like this. Anyway to try and make things a bit clearer, lets say I’m designing a book page and add a photo box to that page and place a photo in it. Now I want to add a little slant to the photo box for artistic purposes. I only have the option of moving the angle adjustment slider in one direction and it starts to slant the photo box to the left until you get past 90 degrees and then when you get in the vicinity of 170 degrees you have a slight slant in the opposite direction BUT the photo is now upside down. Sooooo you have to change the orientation of the photo by 180 degrees before you put it in the photo box so that it is upright once again. Does that make sense?
If you want to copy the attached URL into your browser, I THINK it will take you to screen shots I made.

Craig,

I cleaned up your post and turned your URLs into links but now it appears the photos are gone? Did you remove them?

Anyway the solution is simply to keep rotating. You can rotate the box a full 359°, so 350° would be the same as −10°. No flipping of the photo required.

Cripes almighty, I accidentally deleted the photos shortly after posting.
Anyway, as Homer would say, “DOH!!” I never thought of just trucking on to the 350 or so degree mark. Thanks for making the OBVIOUS, obvious to me!!
