I have a library I'm thinking about reimporintg in to a NEW Library, using the last resort technique for hopefully fixing a slow running library. My questions is this. Should I still do a Repair and Rebuild before reimporting to a new library. The rebuild and Repair takes 3-4 days to go through and if a reimport to a new Library fixes all problems I don't want to waste the time on a Repair and Rebuild. Any suggestions?

It would help to have your machine type and processor speed, your operating system(OS X 10.x.x, and your Aperture Version.(3.x x)
All of these elements contribute to your speed and compatibility with other software.

John,

MacBook Pro Retina, 2.6ghz processor, 16 gigs of RAM OSX 10.8.3, Aperture Version 3.4.4. Aperture library resides on a 8TB G-Tech Thunderbolt Drive. Referenced files on 8TB G-Tech Thunderbolt drive. Does that help?

Never seen a repair and rebuild take more than a few hours.
You have fast system. Something is odd
Have you tried moving your library onto the same drive as the referenced masters?

Hi Daniel

Ive never in person seen a machine with so many bells and whistles :-) But I have seen Long rebuild days. Best to either let it run while you are on vacation or Break the lib into smaller libs to rebuild, cuz you lib has crupted files somewhere), and you will need to eventually find the problem. I dont think the lib should be on a NAS, if that is what the 8TB G-tech is. Id put the lib back on the internal HD and see if that is faster to rebuild. Nas or DAS are ok for the images. Cheers
