Backing up prior to a clean install of Lion #1

I am starting to have issues again with Aperture 3.4.5 and round tripping through CS5 and general slow MAC performance. Any recommendations on back up software before I proceed.

When I went from from Snow Leopard to a clean install of Mountain Lion, I used Time Machine Back-up. I had so many problems with Aperture after that and spent countless sessions on the phone with Apple tech support.

In the End I do remember them telling me that Time Machine was not recommended for back up to programs like Aperture, hmmmm  really.

So any suggestions would be appreciated

I don’t really have a suggestion but I have not had any issues reinstalling from Time Machine.  I presume you are only referring to the app and not image files backed up through Time Machine.   I hate doing OSX updates and it seems there is always a bug or two.  I just updated to Mavericks a couple hours ago and when I use a Nik plug-in directly (i.e. not using it via P.S.) when the tiff file is returned, I have a blank viewer screen.  I digress!  How did you make out?

I'd much rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Craig, yes my last major OSX 10.8 update gave me fits, I think I still have multiple libraries of the same projects, but everything has been running “ok” (knock on wood) . It was the Apps that had issues, I use the Reference file system so my files reside outside my Mac.

I have not done the Maverick update, if it’s not broke don’t fix it. If there is ever an Aperture 4 and I get CS6 by Xmas then I will certainly go forward.

I was contacted by another user and they suggested “Super Duper” back up.
