Aperture won't open! #1

I’ve updated my iMac to 10.9.1 and Aperture will no longer open. I get this message when I try: You can’t use this version of the application “Aperture” with this version of OS X. I currently have Aperture 3.2.3.

I’m guessing it’s time to update Aperture. The dialogue box seems pretty clear.

You either roll back the OS or update Aperture.

I tried updating, however there is no option to update in the App store without paying for it again.

Hmm. Really? Last I checked, in Mavericks, they allowed you to get a free copy of the AppStore version of Aperture if you have it installed. Or at least that’s what happened to me. I had a student disc version of and when I had Mavericks and tried to update Aperture, it associated an AppStore copy to my account. Are you sure it’s asking for you to pay?

Also, if you’ve already paid for it in the AppStore, it shouldn’t charge you again.

I’ve tried yet again, and the App store wants my money. Not so sure what to do other than paying for Aperture all over again.

Do you have an AppStore version?

If I recall, under mavericks, when I went to software update it promoted for my Apple ID and it gave me a copy.

Matt .. are you saying that it finally finished (after numerous iterations) and Aperture is working?

I’m thinking I may just end up paying for it all over again. Or switching to Lightroom.

Be sure that the Aperture 3 Application is located inside your applications folder so that the App store can see it. If it is, and the App Store doesn’t offer an update, make a test user account on the computer and check for the update in the App store in that account. Call apple directly if these steps don’t work. There may be an error with the App Store if it is not offering you updates.
