After Retina SSD and HD backup crash: recovered Aperture library shows up as folder #1

Hi

Hard times….

Due to a problem, the SSD of my Retina 15 had to be replaced on guarantee. When it came back and I wanted to copy from time machine external drive or from super duper drive, nothing worked, both had problems as well.
With great support of Disk Warrior, we were able to rescue data from the time machine drive. The biggest problem was the 70 GB Aperture library. Only with “open the package” (splitting the library file up into many sub-folder) we could copy folder per folder.
Now I have all data back, but the recovered Aperture library still shows up as a folder and not as a file. Therefore, Aperture does not recognize it.

Do you have any idea, how I can turn the Aperture Recovery folder back into a library?

Thanks a lot
Esteban

Try changing the name of the folder extension to .aplibrary

It should now be seen with an aperture library icon.

Hi Rafter, thanks a lot, that worked, now the library shows up as a file.

However, now I got the message:

Error Importing Library
the library could not be imported because it is from an out of date version of Aperture 3. Please upgrade the library to the latest version of Aperture 3 and try again.

I searched this forum and found the advice: “close Aperture, double click on the library and it will upgrade autotmatically”

but my library does not upgrade and I can’t open it.

any idea?

thanks, Esteban
