I have been going back through my mess of file management in AP3 . I use reference file system, and have approx. 12 libraries, starting each with as a year, then projects as the months. My Libraries are stored on my Internal HD, though I have now found some on my External where my Master files are.
Is there any Con to creating so many Libraries ?

The only con I can think of is not being able to search your entire archive in a single search. You do need to make sure your backup plan for where your libraries are stored is just as strong as the plan for backing up your images.

Thanks Walter, I am currently trying to get a grip on how I am managing my files and have been reading the articles here on backing up, hope to have all in place by the end of the week
Make sure you can track which Libraries go with which sets of referenced images. If your referenced images span multiple disks, you need a way to track which Library points to which external HD. I use managed Libraries so I always know my images are with their Library. I do have multiple Libraries. My master Library contains all my digital camera photos. Other Libraries are dedicate to specific subjects that are scans from negatives, slides and historic family prints. Examples are Hawaii 1994, Grand Canyon 2000, Family Archives.

If you use one Master Library, isn’t that a whole lot of files that are open in the left pane? A lot of clutter?
Nope. It all depends on how you organize things with Folders, Projects, Albums in the Library Inspector.
