I have some old photos that where named with whats happening in the photo people places etc and I’m currently renaming all my photos as per ym d etc format but it would be a shame to lose that info, is there a way to batch fill captions from the current file name before i rename?

cheers

The only way I am aware of is to use Applescript. Basically, the script would replace the captions of all selected images with the version name.

Yes there is a script which works an absolute charm. I can’t find it at the moment but I’ll have a look in the office tomorrow unless you find it first. It basically copies all versions into the caption field.

Hi Chris, any luck in finding that Script?

Hi Ben, sorry about that. It turns out the script I found was from Version to Title, so I've modified it to go fro Version to Caption.

Either one will work for you, but Caption would probably be more suitable.

You can download both scripts from a new page I set up here: http://bit.ly/1kL1OW5

And here is a link to the original post where I found it: http://blog.hishma.com/aperture-names (thanks to Jeff Johnston)

Let me know if you have any issues.
