So…just for kicks, I asked onOne via Twitter if Perfect Suite 9 will include support for Photos for Mac when it’s released.  Their response - “sure will!”

That’s good news. Now if Photos is not what we hope it will be, there is a great alternative: DAM by Photos, processing in the Perfect Suite.

Through the promotion on this site, I purchased Perfect Suite 8.5 in May 2014. Less than 5 months later, I find the suite has had an upgrade which will cost me $70. I believe it’s unfair to not let purchasers know that a major upgrade is around the corner. If Photos may or may not include some of the functions that PPS is touting, wouldn’t it be prudent to let the first few iterations of Photos come out & see if this plug-in is really necessary?

I did the same, purchased Perfect Suite 8.0 last Spring as an upgrade for $90. I wrote to OnOne and complained. They wrote back and gave me a discount code to buy the upgrade for $70. No apology or explanation. I’m not overly impressed with their software anyway. Have you noticed that using the plugin in Aperture will take your 20meg RAW file and blow it up to over 100mb in many cases!? I’ll stick with NIK for most of my plugin adjustments.

I just don’t like having to export in a destructive format to an external application to make adjustments. Either I start with the export at the beginning and have to do any Aperture adjustments on a tiff, or I export at the end and then can’t change Aperture adjustments made before the export.

And regardless, I end up with a huge file instead of a RAW and an edit list.

Yuck!

There are many interesting things in this world. We just need to discover them thoroughly. Where demand exists, supply will meet it. Some people demand they have dinosaur fossils, which leads to the interesting underworld of fossil smuggling. One of the most significant examples in recent memory is the case of Erik Prokopi of Florida, who could face up to 17 years for smuggling and selling a complete Tarbosaurus skeleton.
