Aperture Migration Issue if Purchased before the App Store #1

I got a new MBP last week and migrated to it over the weekend. So far so good until I tried to Update Aperture through the App Store.  It kept telling me my Aperture version was either bought from a different Apple ID or refunded and refused to update it. Two hours with Apple Support (most of it on hold) later, I was told I need the original part number off the Aperture 3.0 disks I bought years ago.  Luckily, I did keep them.

Ah, but it gets better.

The part number checked out and the Apple support rep (who was very apologetic through the whole thing) said all they needed to do was issue me a coupon code to redeem through the App Store to download the latest version and install.  The rep put the part number in to generate the code and got an error.  Was put on hold again for the Rep to talk with a supervisor who said all coupons for Aperture had been used.  Huh?  How the heck does that happen?

The issue was escalated to engineering and was told I was not the only one having this issue.  Well, than, fix it, please!  I have work to do!  I was told I would hear back from them in 24 to 48 hours.  24 hours has passed so I hope I hear from them by tomorrow.

Word to the wise, if you bought version 3.0 on disk, you will probably have a problem upgraded to version 3.6 when you upgrade to Yosemite or migrate like did.

UPDATE: Latest update to OS X 10.10 Yosemite allowed me to re-associate Aperture to my Apple ID and the update to Aperture 3.6 installed.

BUT…now all my images are considered offline.  Sigh…I will look around and see if this has happened to anyone else.
