When I import a photo from Aperture to Photos, it becomes a “jpg” In Aperture it is raw. This only happens when the photo is in the Aperture Library. How can I get it back to Raw?

Thank you

See Josephs Photosapp tutor 18…..  select pic then edit and image/use raw as original

But the use raw as original is grayed out.

You can only swap to RAW when it's in edit mode. Weird but true.

I am in edit mode then go to image and the use raw as original is grayed out. Also process raw is grayed out.
Am I missing a step? I want this to work.

I think this same question was answered in another part of these forums. But I’ll add something here for those that stumble upon it.

To get the RAW file from Aperture to Photos, you need to Export the original. Right-click->Export->Original… then select a proper folder in the save dialog so you can find it later.

Then import the resulting file to Photos.

If you use a referenced library, you could just import it directly from within Photos if you know what folder in the Finder it is located. You can’t do this with a managed Aperture library because the originals are located in the Aperture library package and you can’t navigate into it from the Photos import dialog.

Any other method will just get the JPEG file into Photos.

Thanks Tom. I am starting to get it now. Are you starting to use “photos”
Or are you using “Lightroom?
