Anyone using Aperture on new 5K iMacs? #1

Does full screen display all the masters in 5K, that is Aperture gets the 5K rendering from the OS even if the app. isn’t updated?

Would slide shows created on Aperture on a 5K iMac, probably running El Capitan, be in the native resolution of the iMac?  I know that screen savers are.  I send iCloud photo streams to my Retina MacBook Pro from my regular iMac and it’s definitely sharper on the MacBook Pro than my iMac.

The latest 5K iMacs probably come with El Capitan.

There are reports that El Capitan supports 10-bit color but the app. itself must support it.  For instance, Preview reportedly doesn’t support 10-bit color.

I have new Mac Retina 27 inch and imported vault from previous iMac only to find all folders projects etc are deleted and entire library of 100,000 photos are bunched together into a recovered images folder which I think has so many images it crashes Aperture.

I don’t know what is causing this but it is a nightmare.

Hmm that’s scary.  Can’t be the OS, since people report that Aperture still works on El Capitan.

Do you have a Time Machine backup with the library instead of the vaults?

No!

I thought the vault would restore but no. Instead of the many many albums and projects it has placed everything into one folder called a Recovered Project ( with 100,000 images). Imagine trying to sort that out.

It seems these things never work when you actually need them. I guess now I am more than happy to move on to another piece of replacement software.

If anyone has any idea how to sort this out I would really appreciate it.

I only restored from a vault once before.  Didn’t have any issues.

Can’t recall if there were different restore options or not.
