Hi all

i am trying out Photos and I have an issue

i shoot with a Nikon 12-15 mb files but when I want to edit the files I  have a spinning ball in the cornet and it take 4-6 sec before I can adjust

it is very sluggish  and lacking alot

my Mac 1 TB ssd 16 gb ram so it should work like a charm

is this just me or is there a general issue with photos

Definitely not normal. Can you try photos from another camera (anything, even an iPhone) and see what happens?

Hi Joseph

yes I have and it is the same 3-4 phots edit then it slows down with my D3 D200 D90 only my iPhone is it quick since it is not raw

but I found a other way to do what I want to

Since I would like to have all my photos on my iPhone/ipad

i do all my editing in C8 then export 300 kb files to photos then sync them :)

Apple should get their act together  and kick Aperture back to life but they never gonna do this

I don’t have a problem with speed in Photos. I have an external 1TB Solid State Drive hooked up to my MacBook Pro via Thunderbolt 2 (using a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapater). My Photos library is 750GB on the SSD. It is the only file on the SSD. When I fill 90% of the SSD I will move the Photos library onto a 2GB SSD.

Do you automatically have Photos set to keep a local copy of your originals on your Mac, or do you have it set to only keep the originals in iCloud?

I don’t use iCloud Photos. As of today my Photos library is 853GB on the SSD. It is now on a 2TB SSD.

DaveP,

My question was actually to the OP.  His problem sounds like his originals are not on his Mac.
