Is there a software program that will remove duplicate photo's in Aperture?
Afraid of losing pictures, I have combined different backups into one that has
created a nightmare. Thru auto-stack and filters, I have deleted plenty. More still
remain and curious if there is a simpler way via software.
Thanks
Photobug,
I just did a quick google and was surprised to find something called Duplicate Annihilator
- Aperture Edition, and claims compatibility with Aperture 3.1—.nd it’s only $7.95!
I haven’t used it, but they do have loads of good comments on the site. If you check it out, please report back!

I purchased Duplicate Annihilator. On the large library (20,000) photo’s I received an applescript error message. Emailed the company with the error message. They emailed back saying they had never seen that one before. this was on Nov 8th. They asked which version and I responded with “aperture version”. Still waiting for a response. Maybe with the new aperture update it will run. I will wait a couple of weeks before I try.
funny thing is that the bloated library (with duplicates) 30,000 photos — vault would not complete.
now the reduced 20,000 photo library — the vault does complete
Photobug,
Thanks for the report back. I haven’t tried the software myself yet.
There are other issues with the Vault at play. I haven’t had a successful Vault update since 3.1 and I’ve tried starting from scratch. A bit concerned on that one myself. Investigating, as always.
