I have a few photos of some far away locations that are not on the map.  I’m pretty certain I was able to point to a location on the map and assign a location.  I have a few photos where I can’t imagine that the location appeared on the maps just by typing it.  Yet, I can’t remember how I did this.

Could someone please help me refresh my mind?  Thanks

Thanks, that works for placing the photo.  This beach is not on the map.  It’s on google maps but not on apple maps.  How can I give it a name?  That’s what I was looking for.  How to name places that are not on the map.

Find the place in the map, then drag your pictures there. Once you drag the pictures where you want, right-click on it and choose: new place. A new pop-up will show and then you can Name it. Important is also to choose the zoom level, the size of the circle for the new place you are naming. Click Ok and you are done. Next time you search on the Maps for that place you named, it will be there.

Another place you can go is: Metadata -> Manage my Places

hope that helps
