It appears that the print driver fro the Epson 3880 has not yet been updated for Mavericks, so many of the options on the print menu are not available. The Epson site says coming soon!
I have an Epson 2200. Mavericks seems to be supporting that OK. I’m thinking of replacing the 2200 with a 3880. Good to know about this issue before spending the money. I can wait.
I have an Epson 2400 and OS10.7 & 10.8 broke the B&W options of the Epson software so I always refuse the Epson printer software portion of Software Update. One of the reasons I haven’t moved up to Mavericks only Aperture 3.5.1.
I too am planning moving up to a 3880 (or its successor!) and will wait until driver compatibility with Mavericks has been confirmed.

SOLVED
Happily, Epson has updated the driver for the 3880 and Mavericks. All seems to work well. This, by the way, is a really good printer.
