The last item in the EXIF list of data is “Depth”. What is this? It seems to be invariably “8”.

The last item in the EXIF list of data is “Depth”. What is this? It seems to be invariably “8”.
I am using Aperture 3.
That may be color depth, as in 8-bits per color channel. Is this for JPG or RAW files?

8 is for JPEG files. RAW files are 16.
