File discrepancies between iPhoto and Aperture #1

As you know, iPhoto and Aperture can now open the same library. Here's my question: When viewing the file size of a particular photo, Aperture will report the size to be a fraction smaller. Any idea why this is?

I noticed that if I drag and drop the photo out of Aperture, say to my desktop, the file's size is reported to be the same as what iPhoto reports.

If someone can explain this curiosity, I'd be very grateful.

Rick,

Sounds like the RAW file is being decoded in Aperture by an older RAW engine, which had some issues getting the file size right. When you view it in the Adjustments tab, are you by chance seeing the “reprocess” button? If so, hit hit that and test again.

If not, then I really can’t say!

Most of the images are JPEGs. Weird, right?

It’s not a major issue for me, as evident by my lack of checking this thread. I primarily asked the question because it was raised by one of my clients.

Thanks for responding. I’ll let her know that it’s most likely due to a difference between the image processing used by the apps.
