Hello:
I just bought a MacBook air, so I can work remotely with my iMac very large library.
My question is, what is the best way to import/merge back to the iMac, the library of my MacBook Air.

The library is a 12+GB size,

Thanks!
Federico

Hi Federico,

1) I’ve been looking for similar information regarding workflow between desktop and laptop, so I can point you to a few applicable threads:
* Managed Library

* New MacBook Pro: Best of All Possible Worlds

2) Also I think they (“they,” the experts ;-> ) would ask you:
- What is the size of the Aperture library on the desktop?
- Is that library managed or referenced ?
- Does your equipment have Thunderbolt/FireWire ?

3) Last night I tried the “auto-magic” merging process for the first time. Am amazed and pleased that it worked with no problems. Here’s how I did it step-by-step:
- Hooked up Ethernet cable between desktop (iMac) and laptop (MacBook Pro) computers
- Opened two Finder windows on laptop
- Selected the desktop in the SHARED pane of Finder window
- Connected to desktop as Registered User
- Copied over the “travel library,” the one on the laptop, to the desktop
- On the desktop, renamed the file Aperture Library_Laptop_12-19-2011, for clarity
- Opened Aperture to my main library
- Chose File/Import/Library-Project from menu
- Navigated to and selected the new Aperture Library_Laptop_12-19-2011 file
- Hit “Import” button
- Waited 20 minutes

Thanks!
My library (desktop) is about 120+GB, I work remotely on a MBA 11”, so no Ethernet connection. I do have Thunderbolt on the MBA, but I could not make it to “connect” to the iMac on it.
I will try as you did, using a pen drive of 20GB.

I’ll let you know.
Merry Christmas!
