My library is on my local HDD, tired of trying to free up space. Currently referenced. Photos are organized by year as top of tree. Anything older than about 2 years is not looked at too often. My thinking was to copy my library to an external HHD, delete 2012 and earlier from my local HDD, keeping 13 and 14, then on the external HDD delete 13 and 14. Then each year move in this case 13 to the external drive and delete 13 on the local drive. Keep it all managed. This solves my out of disc space issue on my internal drive.
Any issues with this strategy or a better process. If I want to create a book can I pull photos from two libraries.
Thanks, jon
Sounds fine as long as you have backups of both drives - and you will need to tell Aperture that you have moved the referenced files when you do, i.e. now and then when you move each year’s files.
