Can anyone recommend an app on the iPhone that creates a GPS log that I can import in to Aperture? I would like to geotag my photos on an upcoming trip without mounting GPS on Canon Cam.

This may not be as precise as what you are seeking, but I always take an iPhone photo (which include GPS coordinates) from wherever I want to remember the photos location. Then I add these GPS tagged photos to the rest of the non-GPS photos taken with my DSLR when I import into Aperture. Then select an iPhone pic and use the Lift and Stamp tool to lift the gps info from it and then paste the location onto the photos from the same locations taken with my DSLR. Not 100% precise but usually close enough for me. And it’s free.
