I’m aware that it is possible to import both file formats with one or other as a Master. However, over the past few years I’ve often shot both and imported separately. I rarely use the Jpegs and was wondering if it is possible to merge them with the Raws with the latter as Masters.
I have been moving from a managed to a referenced library as I was intending to switch to Lightroom (but now re-considering as mentioned in another post) so don’t know if this makes a difference.
Have I missed the boat by importing separately or is this still possible?
Thanks for any advice,
John
I dunno, but have you tried auto-stacking them? It’s not the same as RAW/JPEG pairs, but I don’t think I know how to make those other than on import.
Andrew Macnaughton
The only time you can create a RAW/JPEG pair is during import. You’d need to export the masters and then reimport as a PAIR. Probably not worth the trouble. Might as well use Andrew’s idea and stack them.
BTW, once you import as a pair you cannot separate them either. You can set to view one or the other but not both. And you cannot get rid of one of a pair either.
Thomas
Thanks both. I reckon you’re right Thomas, not worth the trouble especially with quite a few thousand pairs. Overall, I’ll stick to my current procedure of importing separately and make more use of stacking.
Thanks again for the responses,
John
