Missing master files in managed library #1

I'm really hoping someone can help me here. I have a number of aperture libraries. I use managed files in all (I think this is the correct term - i.e. I store my photos in aperture and not elsewhere). For no apparent reason about 70% of photos in one of my libraries now have the yellow triangle with the curved arrow badge, ie the master file is missing. This has happened across multiple projects going back to 2006 so I know it is not a case of me accidentally imputing a project as referenced files.
I have tried the following
1 - repaired the database
2 - gone into the package and checked the master files - and the missing ones are missing!
I've also looked in the preview folder in the package and some of them have jpegs between 2 - 10 mb - does this sound right?

Any help will be appreciated - thanks in advance.

I had the same thing happen to me. I can see the files but they have the same triangle and arrow on the corner. I was able to drag some of them onto my desktop and they turned into jpgs, but for some reason I can drag all of them out of Aperture. Of course, these are part of a big order that is due. I’m really angry about this, as this mistake/glitch in Aperture is now hurting my business.

Hi,
I have a similar problem : some entire projects in my library present damaged previews. Aperture pretends the masters are missing. However, in my case, they are really there… I can see them in the library package (and of course I made a backup copy at once). Anyway Aperture won’t let me reconnect them, considering my library is managed.
I tried also the 3 repair options by holding the option/command key at launch : no effect.
My library is 84Go, my system is up to date.
Any suggestion welcomed… Thanks

Alan,

How old is your newest backup, and what kind of backup is it — cloud, time machine, Vault, or ??

This is not good and you’re not the first to report this. I think we have a serious problem in the works.
