What is the safest way to do this?
Due to Nikon Capture NX2, Ive had to edit a trillion images all over,
Now I nearly have them sorted and am getting the hang of this Aperture and Mac “thing” with a steep learning curve i might add
I have set up a library called “Archive” on the iMac HDD with all the projects inside that Archive
What I would like to do is “export” this Archive to an external drive/drives
If successful, delete this from the mac to conserve space,
Then have the ability to access this Archive with Aperture when I need it

Select the projects in the source library. Select File->Export->Items as new library…
You’ll be presented with a standard file dialog to tell Aperture where to put it (on your external drive). You can also enable or disable including Preview files. And if you have a referenced library, you can select whether to copy those referenced files into the exported library. If you do they will now be managed in the new exported library.
You now have a new library on your external drive with those projects. Once you’ve verified they are there (DON“T FORGET TO MAKE A BACKUP), you can delete them from the source library.
