Just bought a new MacPro Retina laptop..Since this new computer comes with thunderbolt I want to start with a new aperture library. Do I need to buy a new aperture or can I use the aperture library on my old macbook pro with firewire 800 ?
Bottom line is to start a new library using thunderbolt.

David,

The library is separate from the app. You can have as many libraries as you can physically fit on all your hard drives. The only limitation is you can open one at a time.

As for Aperture, if you bought it from the Mac App Store, you can install it on any Mac you own if it’s for personal use. For business use the license limitations are more restrictive (one Mac with multiple users or one user on multiple Macs). Just open the Mac App Store and select the Purchased tab at the top and click install for apps you’ve purchase that you’d like to install on the current Mac.

The boxed Aperture has a license similar to the Mac App Store business use license.
