I have just bought Aperture, partly so that my library will be smaller than my iPhoto library, because I gather Aperture doesn't duplicate files when modified as iPhoto does.

However I have many thousands of photos modified in iPhoto that are already duplicated.

Is there any way of changing these pairs of photos so that the modifications are stored in the Aperture way rather than the iPhoto way (and hence reduce the size of my existing library)
