Remove RAW from referenced library #1

Hi there - help please!

I have a huge referenced library and in advance of uploading to iCloud photo library I would like to reduce it to save cost.

I currently have all RAW and JPG stored together and figured I could move the RAW to a separate disk and back that up myself.  I read on macrumors that I could simply cut & paste the RAWs to somewhere else and aperture would be happy…this initially worked fine, but I am now trying to relocate originals (JPGs) to a folder structure and am getting errors as it can’t find the RAWs to relocate.  Is there an easy way to refresh aperture’s view of whether an image should be a pair or just a JPG?

Otherwise I guess I need to copy back all the RAWs and extract them some other way…advice please?

Thanks
