Would like to incorporate my new iPad in my editing process. Any suggestions on where to start in terms of learning the best way to do this? Raw, raw +jpeg, iPhoto, snapseed????? Books, video, websites?? And then SLR process vs. iPhone & apps process. I'm overwhelmed.
All this in conjunction with Aperture3.

It would help to know exactly how you want to incorporate the iPad into your process. Be aware that, due to some limitations in both the iPad hardware and iOS, an iPad can’t quite replace a laptop for some tasks.
Keep in mind, that currently, there really isn’t a viable method to completely incorporate a RAW process workflow, beginning with the iPad and ending with Aperture on a laptop or desktop … at least not that I am aware of.
I use my iPad quite a bit for working on images shot on location in lieu of a laptop for both editing small quantities of images and/or a viewer for WiFi tethered shooting … though whatever images I process on the iPad, can’t be directly coordinated and added to my workflow back in the studio.
Apps I use on the iPad include Filterstorm Pro for processing, captioning and FTP to clients on location. I also sometimes use Shuttersnitch in conjunction with an Eye-Fi card to directly upload images to the iPad during a shoot. I use Portfolio for iPad for client presentations. To name a few.
On the business side, Square and their new Register app have become invaluable for “ringing up” sales and processing credit card payments …
There are plenty of options to add your iPad to your daily tasks.
Susan,
As Butch says, there are a lot of things you can do — and a lot of things you can’t. Unfortunately there’s no good way of starting an edit on the iPad and finishing it in Aperture 3. You can do an entire edit on the iPad, from ingest to edit to adjust to publish, but you can’t really move to Aperture half-way through.
There are apps to do Aperture ratings on the iPad, but you need to start from Aperture.
iPhoto for iOS is a pretty darn good editor, but there’s no transition point. And if you’re working with high resolution RAW files, iPhoto will kick you down to a lower rez JPG.
Scan back through the archives of tips on this site, as there’s been a lot of iPad discussion lately.

Joseph,
Thx. I’d be interested in the app that would let you rate on the iPad. Can
You give me a name? Id be happy to start there.

Was just going to ask if that was it! Google search much better than searching in App Store. Thanks again. If it works it satisfies what I’m looking for at this point.
