How do I correct date in custom Version Name? #1

I imported my photos using Joseph’s custom version name.  Then I realized that I hadn’t reset the time on my camera and therefore had to correct the time.  I now have the time correct in the Date box.  It is still incorrect in the Version Name box.  I have tried several things - Batch change but the replace checkbox isn’t available in this section and therefore I get duplicate version names.  I also changed the Version Name to put Original Version name back but it pulls up the old date, not the new one.  I also looked at Writing IPTC data to original but couldn’t figure that one out either.  Any suggestions?

To clarify - In Info I have 4/8/14 in the Date box but have 2014_04_07 in the Version Name box.  How do I get them to match?

Did you try batch changing the timezone in the EXIF data before changing the version name? Was the only thing off the timezone or was the actual hh:mm:ss also wrong in the camera prior to shooting?

I did that. My problem was with the next step. Fortunately, I just found a post by Joseph - Correcting for mismatched time stamps in Aperture- 3 after import from jan 4 2011. I am going to look at doing it the hard way as he describes unless there is a reason not to do that. About to read through instructions right now.
Thanks for reply. Any further suggestions appreciated.

Ok - the hard way looks too hard for me. Looks like I will be Importing again instead. Good thing I didn’t wipe the cards!

Maybe I missed something (and sorry I didn't read Joseph's post you referenced), but if you batch change the timestamps, you should then be able to batch change the names using the same Date_Time_Custom Name recipe from import. Does that work for you?

You would think that would work, wouldn’t you. Alas, no. That’s where I started. Read Joseph’s post and if you come up with anything easier, let me know. I haven’t imported again yet. It’s a month’s worth of images and I want iPhone and dslr photos to mesh. 75% of iPhone photos have correct date & time which helps.

Susan: would you please post the link to Joseph’s method to which you refer. Thanks.

I guess I didn’t read this posting carefully enough the first time.  If I want the custom Version Name to match the Date day and time I have to do it the HARD WAY.  Bummer - I just want to edit my photos!

Do I understand this correctly? - importing the photos again and adjusting time on import really doesn’t fix the situation.  It’s exactly the same as adjusting the time after import.

Yes, I don't think adjusting the time on import will affect the naming on import. Luckily the hard way doesn't actually look that hard. Just remember to set your camera time from now on!

Good luck, CB
