Wow, great master class tutorial. Thank you very much!!
Will this work on the Blackmagic 4k pocket camera??
Thank You so much for this content and share your experience with other . I think this webinar is a best guide for anyone that want to work with Blackmagic Atem product ,
Question: When I use the Atem software control, I can't use the buttons on the Mini Pro, is that a setting?
that's not right… the software definitely does not lock out the hardware. I don't even know where to begin other than to say to reboot everything
Thank you so much for share all of this with us!!
What’s that little box on the side?
2:55:40 - how do you upload a solid color to the background?
@@PhotoJosephLIVE thank you.
There’s two color generators in the ATEM; you don’t have to upload that.
Why are two HDMI Outputs good?

1 HDMI Out for my multiview and the other one?
@@PhotoJosephLIVE Thank you for your answer!

Thanks, Joseph: can't wait for part two !
Thank You very much for this awesome presentation
bro I have not used the Atem mini extreme or any before and after watching your video I now know I can use it when I get one
Hello, Bro Thank You very much for this awesome presentation can I be your friend?
Joseph.. Thank you.. Great explanation.. Amazing.. Great Job... You explain things very, very well..
Thank you!
note on the index 0 versus position 1 thing.. it has to do with how it was programmed and specifically, how arrays/lists of items are accessed. when the computer accesses an element, it uses the base address of the array plus an offset. let's say the array address variable memory address is 1000 ( not in actuality, but just for illustrative purposes ) and the array element size is 10 ( again, not in actuality, but just to make it easy to calculate ).

the first element of the array is the base + the position offset, which is 1000 + ( 0 * 10 ) = 1000.
the second element of the array is the base + the position offset, which is 1000 + ( 1 * 10 ) = 1010.
etc, for the rest.

So the first element has a zero offset, the second element has a 1 offset, etc.

This is a common issue in computer science vs real life. In real life, we use more counting numbers ( which start from 1,2 ,3.. there is an actual definition for this ).. but in computers we always start at 0. this causes so many off by one errors, and that is the running joke in programming!
on the hdmi out limtation.. i did a live stream using the built-in streaming on the mini pro and it seemed to use the program out for the steam, and i was able to use the hdmi out for the multi view.
this livestream is amazing! thanks photojoseph!
Quick questions... I have 2 Lumix S5s, and a Panasonic UX180.... and will be buying the latest ATEM..... do you have a recommendation for HDMI adapters and cables and what is the longest Length that I can get away with? Love your work btw!
Thank You very much for this awesome presentation. I have been using the ATEM Mini Pro for a while, but due to time constraints I had not been able to really dig into the details. I am also almost certain I will upgrade to the extreme now.

Your recording/show is a fantastic compilation of topics plus you are not just covering the ATEM but also other hardware that interacts with it.
By that you gave me new ideas and also solved some of the questions i still had in terms of connecting other rooms/places/sources.

The only limitation remaining now is the quality/resolution of the video signal in Zoom. I am still thinking about signing up for a streaming service and keeping the number of trainees low, so i can provide them with good video and audio. But since I am training guys in software, Video is really important for me.

Again, Thank You.
Which BenQ Monitor are you using for the Multi-View? Is it portable? meaning is the stand easy to assemble, dis-assemble and transport?
Awesome!!!!
What i do for events that I get audio from a sound board I connect pass that audio through my camera that way audio and video are synced
Thanks, @PhotoJoseph. Any ideas of a multi-cam braw ISO recording workflow that also syncs to the cloud? Many Thx.
which part do you want to sync to the cloud?
Just got to the part where your talking about the index starting at zero. I know it's confusing (although, it's normal to me as a computer programmer). It's not only that way in the atem, but it is how all computer systems read anything that is in an array. The reason is because it's based on it's distance from the starting point. The first item is zero distance (or points) away from the beginning, so it's stored as zero. I know, it's still confusing, but there is at least an explanation. (By the way, I'm typing this comment as I'm watching, so if that explanation comes later, then I apologize)
@@PhotoJosephLIVE Agreed. If it were up to me, one would be one and two would be two... But, it's not up to me.
oh fascinating, no one has ever told me that before! That at least makes it a reason. Not a good one 😂 but a reason nonetheless!
Hey! I know I'm late to this party, but... I've been using the Atem Mini (base model) for two years now and just recently upgraded to the extreme iso. I've been watching your channel for about 10 days now and find your content extremely helpful! Just wanted to say thanks for the helpful content, and let you know you got yourself a subscriber and supporter.
correct — the multi view is NOT available in software. Only in an HDMI connected monitor.
Thank you Matthew! Be sure to subscribe to the main channel at https://youtube.com/c/photojoseph?sub_confirmation=1
@@chitChatNexus in the atem software control, you can change your preview output under the "output menu" and then under which output you have a monitor connected to (either 1 or 2). You do have to have a monitor plugged on directly to a output hdmi on the back of your atem (they are next to the usb-c) ports. You can also change the preview on the atem itself.

As far as I'm aware, there is no option to see the preview in software, you have to have an external monitor.
i am new to it , i connected all 4 cameras to extreme iso and install atem software , and hdmi connected to my pc , now from where can i see multiview , i mean is it a software or to press a key , i almost spend a week but i cant see any option anyways to see multiview screen. where is it plz
Great job! This was very helpful
thanks!
Hi,
Really appreciate your time and effort put into this video. I have one query though, Is it possible to crop and resize the program feed?
you can crop and scale the upstream keys (so, any input can be cropped and scaled), but the program is always 1080p
thank you for the audio / video synch comment
How can I mirror my computer?
this should help… https://youtu.be/ZpFtmmmRPig
When you transfer your files into resolve, it looks like you have an actual multicam setup where you can see the different videos. Specifically the one used to make the PIP. I don't see anything like that. I have always been trying to figure out a way to be able to edit the PIP but black magic says it can't be done but it looks like you can do it based on your video. Maybe you can give me a small tutorial on that? Loved your video!
And you have the ISO model? Also I think we had this conversation on my main channel… did we? Sorry I keep forgetting to check comments on this channel.
Very discouraging. Was hoping for a basic tutorial on how to use the Atem mini pro ISO we just bought for 2-3 camera streaming and recording of my pianist and chamber musician (and music profs) wife's concerts and find myself barraged with a sea of equipment, always with the implicit message that we should have bought many more expensive gadgets...all of which will be obsolete in months or a year! Was going to subscribe; now regret ever starting with this stuff.
Boss… I have dozens of videos on the ATEM on my channel. Complaining that the ONE you watched doesn't meet your needs is like pointing at a Honda Civic and complaining that it can't tow a horse trailer. If this one doesn't do the job… look for one that does.
@@PhotoJosephLIVEAlright, I apologize for any hurt, but at 73+ and on a pension must nevertheless point out that the point of a tutorial should surely be to teach how to get the most out of an elegant minimum gear, rather than show thousands pf dollars worth of more stuff one could (should) get. We added the Mini Pro lSO to a 3k Sound Design digital recorder and 1k+ pair of Neumann mic’s, plus 3 dslrs I already use in hope of being able to mix a high quality live stream. It’s $1200 Cad price tag (and hundreds more for good cables, including a longer fibre optics one) marked the limit of what we can invest in a very demanding but almost never lucrative creative venture (classical music). Then the first thing that we see is that really one should spend hundreds more on the Extreme model, and an endless parade of additional gear.

This is BTW a setup that has to be put together in 90 minutes or so, and disassembled in less time. Venue rentals for decent spaces are expensive.
Wow… provide a massive effort of free education on a huge pile of gear, and get a complaint that it wasn't the basic tutorial you're looking for. I have a TON of ATEM videos on my main channel, if you're still looking. But you know… thanks for appreciating the insane effort I put into this!
can you do preview/program on the actual extreme deck?
There is no "extreme deck". Do you mean the Hyperdeck? No. Do you mean the ATEM Extreme? Yes.
Wish there was an infinity photo plug in!
yeah, well the photoshop one has barely been touched for years. But please do ask Blackmagic for it. I'd love one too!
thank you!!!!
Is there a way to protect the ATEM being discovered by the network? In a company network everyone with mixeffect can find the atem, connect, and change the program?
wow great question. Not natively, no. I wonder if you could mask the IP in the router somehow? I'm no network expert so that's not an easy answer, sorry. But not something I've ever thought of!!
22:21 TIME MARK: You mention pricing, you should edit this because you are wrong and it gives people unrealistic price cost. So I'll break it down for you as I'm a dealer for the line.ATEM Mini $295.00 MSRP
ATEM Mini Pro $495.00 MSRP
ATEM Mini Pro ISO $795.00 MSRP
ATEM Mini Extreme $995.00 MSRP
ATEM Mini Extreme ISO $1,295.00 MSRP
Pricing isn’t at that time mark and you can’t edit a youtube video but I’m sure people can figure out pricing. Thanks for posting them.
I used several HDMI to Fiber Transceiver that went well over 150 feet into the switcher and had no issues. It worked well and the cables were CHEAP once I purchased the more expensive tranceivers.
now you can buy the cables with HDMI tips on them already… and they're cheap! It's incredible.
Prior to getting both the original Mini and the Extreme ISO, I used the Roland V-1HD HD to handle switching, which was $1,000 and was only bare bones with basic effects and a T-Bar. Nothing fancy like the ATEM. It's amazing what can be done now that the ATEMs are out.
i am new to it , i connected all 4 cameras to extreme iso and install atem software , and hdmi connected to my pc , now from where can i see multiview , i mean is it a software or to press a key , i almost spend a week but i cant see any option anyways to see multiview screen. where is it plz
Thank you tutorial hopefully his knowledge can be learned. The resource.
Took me a couple days to finish, but alas, mission accomplished! Thanks so much for sharing this! I’ll probably have to rewatch sections. Looking to purchase the extreme iso in the very near future to support switching within my new startup for small event live webcasting.

Thanks so so much for sharing!

Optical HDMI cables from Amazon basic work perfectly fine.
Thank you for all this great info.
Is there any camera talkback in Atem mini extreme?
No
I watched the video in its entirety, and found that during the Q&A, my question was asked. However, I don’t think the answer given totally fulfilled the question. I am using OBS to change scenes, how can I change the camera inputs in the Atem extreme to reflect the scene changes in OBS? In example OBS scene 1 has Atem camera 1- OBS scene 2 has Atem camera 2 and so forth… and what if I wanted say OBS scene 4 to have Atem cameras 1,2,3,&4 in the scene, how would I go about doing this? I finish by saying you are by far the best tutorial I have found related to my new Atem extreme device.. thanx
This is a question that needs a detailed response and probably a conversation, which is best handled in our private Discord chat group. If you can join the youtube channel at YouTube.com/PhotoJoseph/join you’ll have access to the Discord. It’s also a great way to support the channel! See you there.
Great job mate. How did you zoom in and out live the display on your Mac?
@@PhotoJosephLIVE Amazing, thank you!
on macOS, go to System Preferences > Accessibility > Zoom and enable "use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom". I use Control key, so I just hold that and scroll the mouse! At least I think that's what you're referring to! If not, give me a time stamp.
Awesome Bud! Thanks for the pro level Training!
You bet!
Great Show. Thanks for it. I watched the whole show in one piece 🙂. One question came up and I hope you have an answer for it: I have an ATEM Mini and look for a way to switch ON THE HARDWARE from camera1 to camera2 and while I am switching I want to turn on the picture in picture automatically. When I switch back to camera1 the picture in picture should be disabled again. so I have always for one camera a pip and for the other one not. Is this possible?
@@PhotoJosephLIVE Is there any way to start a recorded makro automatically when I switch with the hardware button to an other camera?
Only with macros
Hi - just started watching this and it looks like a really great through that I'm looking forward to absorbing! Quick question about the webinar though. You say it happened over Zoom? I've found that Zoom is still always SD at the moment due to restricted bandwidth - did you do it in SD and then recreate it for YouTube using the in-camera recordings and so got HD? Or did you have a special premium account that let you use Zoom in HD? I ask because I have a webinar coming up that the client would like to use Zoom for but SD won't really cut it. Thanks!
Should have watched further into the video - I see this question is already answered at 57:45!

Just brilliant !

Zoom HD Group Video Requirements

I thought it might be helpful to others to see Zoom’s official requirements for HD video.

Here’s there current information:

Using Group HD video

Last Updated: December 10, 2021

Note: As our world comes together to slow the spread of COVID-19 and stays connected through Zoom globally, we are working to quickly scale our bandwidth during this unprecedented demand.

For the time being, standard video, not HD video, will be activated when 3 or more participants join a group meeting. HD video (720p) will be activated for 2 participants or when a Zoom Room or Conference Room Connector joins a group meeting. HD video (1080p) will only be activated for selective use cases such as large-format broadcast events. -

Group HD video will activate 720p video quality for the active speaker video layout in a group meeting.

Full high-definition 1080p video is limited to Business and Enterprise plans.

Accounts that meet all other Group HD video prerequisites can also request 720p or 1080p feeds for webinar attendees. This feature needs to be enabled by Zoom Support but is temporarily unavailable. After contacting support, please allow up to 3 business days for the feature to be enabled.

H.323/SIP devices can send and receive video up to 1080p. However, for 1080p or higher, it must be enabled by Zoom Support, as well enabled on the provisioned device, or have the device join using a specific dialing string

Additionally, Group HD video 720p for the Pro account must be enabled by Zoom Support.

Notes:

Screen sharing is not affected by Group HD. Screen sharing will display content at the native resolution of the desktop, application, or portion of the screen being shared.

When using the virtual background feature without a green screen, your video will be capped at 720p, potentially at 360p, for some lower-end Windows computers. Currently, only some macOS devices with specific hardware can send outgoing video at 1080p.
