Building a simple composite in Snapseed and Photoshop Mix

The other day I was at home and needed to build a title card for my Photo Moment show. I only had the iPad Pro with me, which is often when I force myself to figure out just what I can do with the device! I knew that I wanted to build an image that blended multiple photos together to simulate the onion skin feature that I'd be showing off for building animations with the GH5 (that video is here, if you're interested).

I also would need to composite my title graphic on top of whatever picture I made.

The compositing of the graphic I already knew how to do; Photoshop Mix for mobile is perfect for that. And a recently added feature that allows you to resize the canvas makes the process even easier, and eliminates the need for an in-between app to do the image scaling.

But I still needed to build the blended composite, and while I'm sure I could do it in Photoshop Mix itself, I'm so partial to Snapseed that I wanted to see what I could do there.

It turns out, the Default blend mode in Snapseed worked perfectly for what I was trying to achieve! Check out the video above to see just how it was all done.

I'm always impressed by these apps… how about you?

I really am consistently impressed by what can be done on a tablet or even phone these days. On the other hand though I do still find that with a little extra weight and size, a laptop is still a lot more powerful and for more complex tasks, faster to work within. What do you think? Can you do the work you need on a tablet, or is a full size computer still an absolute necessity?
