If you were an iPhoto on iOS user, once upgrading to iOS 8, iPhoto will no longer run. Pictures will move and edits will convert, but not all the features of iPhoto are in Photos. In fact, if you rely on iPhoto, you may want to hold off upgrading to iOS 8. Read on to see what does, and what doesn’t, carry over.

Now that iOS 8 is here, we can finally look at how apps following the new Extensions framework actually behaving in Photos. There aren’t many to choose from yet, but we only need one to see how this works!

There are of course times when we need to go outside of Aperture for our work. It might be to access a single plug-in, or to use a tool in Photoshop that Aperture lacks, but in some cases it’s bigger than that, such as creating a large composite file.
