Converting from iPhoto to Photos in iOS 8

If you were an iPhoto on iOS user, once upgrading to iOS 8, iPhoto will no longer run. Pictures will move and edits will convert, but not all the features of iPhoto are in Photos. In fact, if you rely on iPhoto, you may want to hold off upgrading to iOS 8. Read on to see what does, and what doesn’t, carry over.

Available now! We really got into brushes here. I decided to open Photoshop to more easily explain (I hope!) how brushed adjustments work in Aperture. Since you can’t see what’s going on in Aperture, this turned into a neat way to demonstrate it. This should be the ultimate discussion on brushes, and of course how they apply to adjustments such as Dodge and Burn.

There are of course times when we need to go outside of Aperture for our work. It might be to access a single plug-in, or to use a tool in Photoshop that Aperture lacks, but in some cases it’s bigger than that, such as creating a large composite file. In situations like that however, Aperture doesn’t cease to be part of the workflow. In fact, it can be a critical component, where each individual file is prepped and managed before being sent off to another land.
