Nik Collection Update Fixes Aperture Issue

The Google Nik Collection was quietly updated the other day… and by quiet, I mean you saw no download, no notification, just *pop* fixed software. Bookmark these release notes to keep track, otherwise you may never know when the changes roll out.
The current update, released December 11, 2013 is version 1.109 and includes the following fixes, which should address the “gray screen of death” issue reported here earlier.
Here's a full list of fixes:
- Fixed crashes with Dfine 2 when launching on Mac OS 10.6
- Fixed compatibility issues with 64-bit Dfine 2, Sharpener Pro 3 and Viveza 2 on Windows 8
- Fixed Aperture UI issue that might have occurred after returning to Aperture from plug-ins on Mac OS
- Fixed black or white tile artifacts that might have occurred after returning to Photoshop from plug-ins
- Fixed large color tiles appearing in the plug-in preview on systems with Intel HD graphics cards
- Fixed GPU filtering artifacts occurring on Mac OS 10.9 with Intel HD 2000/3000 graphics cards
- Fixed a Photoshop crash that might have occurred in a specific situations using the brush functionality
- The preset preview will be shown at full retina resolution on supported systems
- Various small retina graphic optimizations
- Improved the click and drag experience when using a tablet
- Analog Efex Pro: Added the affect of the Vary button to the Levels and Curves strength slider
- Analog Efex Pro: Fixed the History comparison button for the initial state
- HDR Efex Pro 2: Fixed a crash that might have occurred during parallel metadata loading from images
- Silver Efex Pro 2: Fixed the functionality of the Toning sliders
- Silver Efex Pro 2: Fixed an issue with Grain Strength visibility that depended on the preview scaling
- Silver Efex Pro 2: Fixed GPU filtering artifacts, which also improved filtering speed
If you want to verify yours has updated, open any Nik plugin, and click the Nik logo in the top right corner.
(Your version number may look different than mine as I'm on the beta cycle, but if you see 1.109, you're good to go).

It works. I admit I thought that this was linked to the recent Mavericks update. Whatever, I am glad things are working again.

I just downloaded it again (from http://www.google.com/nikcollection/ click on “Try Now” at the top) and reinstalled it. Seems to be working fine. Last week, I got a pop up window asking me to give Google Software Update permission to access my accessibility settings. I denied the request, wonder if that’s why I didn’t get the update?

The plug-ins on my Mac have two separate version numbers, one in brackets, and the first number varies depending on which plug-in you’re looking at, for example
Analog Efex Pro version 1.009 x64 0412-106 (1.109)
Dfine version 2.209 - 0412-106 (1.109)
Color Efex Pro 4 version: 4.309 x64 0412-106 (1.109)

So what are we to do if the update is no pushed down? I didn’t get it either in my iMac or my MBA. Downloading and Re-Installing sounds like a pain.

I didn’t know anything about this NIK upgrade, thanks for the heads-up Joseph. I’ll get on to it asap. It’s great software and I often use some/all of the plugins.

Just back from vacation,
Mine is still 1.108
Which is the best way to source the update?
EDIT: Just sent NIK an email asking how I get the update 1.109
I cannot find link anywhere

Update
I sent Nik and email re 1.109 stating I only had 1.108
Got a reply in 5 minutes confirming my request
Got another reply 5 minutes later with a direct link to the update
All went OK
haven’t tested it out yet but i guess its all good, when I click on the Nik logo, it is now showing 1.109
